Heterosexual couples deal with relationship roles, finances, property, and social obligations differently from gay men. They rate their relationship as successful by roughly the same criteria as mixed couples. They face the same financial problems, they also seek genuine intimacy and have difficulty communicating with relatives. Gay couples strive for the same romantic, emotional, and mutually supportive relationship as mixed couples. While many researchers do not attach any importance to gay hookup sites and try to portray homosexual relationships as unsustainable by their very nature, the writings of respected psychologists such as Gottman and Julien suggest otherwise.
